So, I’ve managed to be late with my journal this month. I have so much on my plate. As Decorating Elves season approaches at light speed and the credit card merchant processing biz still booming, not to mention regular Tortuga biz, I barely have time to breathe. Anyway, here’s the reader’s digest version of September.
One of our minions, Krista took me to the state fair to see Def Leppard and Heart in concert for my birthday. What an amazing show! If I had known that they were both this good I would have gone to see them 20 years ago. Anyway, thanks to Krista and Jessica (another amazing cool person) for a wonderful fun day!

The big event in Minnesota this year was my trip to the Dermatologist. I have (had) a condition called Xanthelasma. It’s a deposit of fat or cholesterol around the eyes or eyelids. It usually shows as a white or yellowish discoloration. Now most people didn’t notice it on me but I’m a vain bastard and in the public eye so I wanted to make them go away. The only problem was the chance for scarring. And since it was around my eyes it was a fairy delicate procedure.
The doctor used a process call electro-desiccation. It’s kinda like a tiny tazer that cooks the skin then he uses a scoop like scalpel to remove the affected skin. I know, yuck right? Anyway he only did the right side to start since he was concerned about the scarring.
They sent me home with this stuff called Eucerin Aquafor. It’s a gel that’s supposed to be used as a skin conditioner. It’s kinda like Neosporin without the antibiotic. The stuff keeps the scab liquefied and kinda gross but boy does it work. Since the scab is fluid it heals nice and smooth. I highly recommend it!
After about two weeks I headed back in to see the doctor on my progress. My left side although pink with new skin, was almost completely healed! The stuff I researched online showed results six weeks out that didn’t look as good as mine. Woohoo! I’m a quick healer. Since the first eye did so well, we went forward with the other. Still scary and gross but necessary. Hopefully you’ll get to see the results soon.
So, in an effort to keep this quick I’ll close with thanking all my friends and fans that made this month (my birthday month) so special. You all are so generous to me. I appreciate it more than you know. A big special “thank you” to all that extended birthday wishes and gifts to me. I always look forward to my time in Minnesota and always will.
That’s it! Bye Minnesota… North Carolina, here I come!
