We are currently encountering a weather pattern that seems to hit the Atlanta Metro area every 3 or 4 years. It’s raining every weekend!! It’s just killing us! We have beautiful weather during the week and then the clouds start rolling in on Friday. It is NOT good for business! Thankfully as I write this, (Just before the Memorial three day weekend) the forecast is beautiful!
Time for my second trip to Florida… this time it was for work. I left Jes and Mia in Minneapolis and flew down to Tampa to do a private party for the Largo Rec. center. I met the boys at Tampa Airport. They drove my car down and picked me up. We drove to our hotel and got ready for our pirate themed gig.
The gig went without a hitch. It was an appreciation party for all the volunteers that help out each season at the center. What we didn’t know was that all of the volunteers were over the age of 70! But I have to tell you, they LOVED us! I think it was such a change from the normal song and dance kinda entertainment they were used to see, it was a welcome change. And the older women are always very flirtatious. I hope we get to do it again.
Of course, while we were in Florida (my home turf) we had to indulge in some local cuisine. All you can eat snow crab? HELL YEAH! After that, we drove by the original Bay Area Renaissance Festival site. It’s just a field and trees behind the Largo Public Library (since it moved over a decade ago) but we remembered where everything was. We cut our teeth on festival life here after all. It was fun to wander around in the moonlight and reminisce.
Our final trip back to the Sunshine State came after another rainy weekend in Georgia. It was time for Mia to meet her Grandfather! My dad was very anxious to meet her, but you can’t blame him. He never thought he’d be a grandpa. But then neither did I!
We drove down on Monday and stayed thru Friday. While there we got to hang out with my dad and step mom, enjoy the local sunny weather, and do a little swimming. (Another Mia first!) She loved the water! I was the same as a child. I just loved to swim. It’s a good love to have in Florida.
While in Tampa Bay we also got all my close friends together for a meet Mia party, much like the one we did a few weeks earlier in Minnesota. We went to one of our favorite restaurant/breweries, BJ’s. They have great food and some amazing micro-brewed beer.
Of course everyone was so pleased to meet Mia. But, she is quite a cutie. How could you not love her? I don’t know. Maybe I’m a little biased. (LOL) It was great to see all my friends in Florida. Since I don’t really live there anymore, it’s harder to catch up with them regularly.
No visit to Florida is complete without a trip to Orlando! This time was no different. We called our friends Joe and Anesa. They work at Disney and are some of the nicest people we know. They also do a few renaissance festivals in Florida. (That’s how we met) We met them for pizza before going to EPCOT.
EPCOT was fun as always! It was the perfect time to go since it isn’t too busy this time of year, especially during the week. We spent the whole day there, right up to the fireworks at 9pm. Disney sure knows how to do fireworks! A big thank you goes out to Joe and Anesa. We had a great time!
Once back in Georgia, we had another get together planned… Chef Jax’s annual dinner. She invited everyone from our circle of friends here at the GA fair. It was a great evening and the food was wonderful! Thanks again!!!
I’m gonna run. As I finish this I have to get to our weekly coffee date with the Baumans.
This week is gonna be a great one! See ya out there Georgia!!
