This Month we finish up the Arizona Fair, have a fun little trip to Las Vegas and enjoy a new format for our Fan Club Meet and Greet.
The Arizona Ren Fair is going along very well. We’re on track to have a record year! We’ve managed to keep so busy through the run that the weeks are just flying by! But finally we’ve managed to plan a trip to Vegas for a little R & R.
Our friend Kim accompanied us to Sin City. That way we could take turns babysitting in the evenings while two of us went to a show. She’d never been before so she was really excited about the trip. And, since I love playing tour guide, I knew it was gonna be fun for me too!
Our first night in town Jes and Kim went to “Zoomanityâ€. It’s the Cirque Du Soleil burlesque show. It’s Jes’ favorite Cirque show and since I’d seen it before it only made sense for the two of them to go. They had a great time. The next day we went out for a bit. We did lunch, a little sightseeing and light gambling. I honestly wasn’t feeling the gambling bug so I didn’t gamble much. (Yet)
The second night Jes was on baby duty and it was Kim’s and my turn to go out. We decided to go to Chris Angel’s “Believeâ€. We found some discount tickets on our walk about that afternoon. The show was ok, although there was much less Cirque involvement than all the video previews showed. Apparently most if not all of the Cirque stuff has been removed. I found that very disappointing. And Chris Angel found his stuff much more impressive than the audience did judging by how hard he was trying to get the audience to make noise. Let this be a warning to any of you considering seeing this show.
Day three was the day Jes and I planned to go see “Absintheâ€. It’s the hot new show on the strip. We broke the bank and got the best front row VIP seats complete with Champagne. We were very excited to see this show. This was to be our first real extended date night we’ve had since Mia was born. We got all dolled up and headed out to the show. I dropped the car off at valet and we walked up to the venue, a tent in front of Caesar’s Palace. As we walked up a ton of people started rushing out of the venue and we instantly felt like a couple salmon swimming upstream. It seemed strange that the previous show was getting out just before our show started.
Jes asked the doorman where we should go to enter the tent. He looked at her strangely and said this was the only show of the day. We were dumbfounded! Apparently, when looking at a thousand different shows and show times, we BOTH mixed up the day and time of some of the shows and had completely missed our show! Jes just stood there in disbelief. I was crushed! Our big night out had been completely derailed. Geeez!!!
We wandered around Caesar’s palace for a while in a daze. We were both still really speechless and had no idea how to proceed. We had dished out over $350 bucks on this show ad had no idea of how or if we could get a refund. After wandering around aimlessly we just decided to go back to the hotel for a cocktail and a little gambling.
The next day we decided to hang around the old strip, do some gambling and have lunch before heading back to Phoenix. Jes was getting some strong vibes from some machines so she went off to play. I was feeling a pull to the roulette wheel. I hit on the roulette wheel several times and left the table just as my good luck was turning with a tidy sum of money in my pocket. Jes on the other hand walked away from every machine she played with $100 or more dollars every time! What a great way to end our trip!
On our way back I decided to stop by the Hoover Dam since Kimmie had never seen it. It was getting late and the Dam was closing so we made a quick stop for a few pictures and headed on our way.
As I said before, we continue to have record numbers in Arizona. And, every week was stronger than the last. With the great turn out at the fair it’s only fair to assume we’re gonna have a great Meet and Greet. It was a safe assumption cuz it was yet another wonderful Meet and Greet! Thanks to everyone that attended!
We changed up the format of the Meet and Greets this year. We usually do drinks and bowling or adult arcade stuff. But this time we put everyone together, encouraged them to meet each other and did a Tortuga Trivia contest with prizes. It was very well received and a lot of fun!
I hope it goes over as well everywhere else! But only you can be the judge! We’ll see you soon at your meet and greet! See ya next month!
