I can never resist a musical recommendation, so I'll mention this journal is being written with a soundtrack provided by Casiotone For The Painfully Alone- a now defunct project of the incredibly talented Owen Ashworth.

The Arizona Renaissance Festival winds down with rising temperatures and a pretty fun social calander. There's the Funky Formal, (Rennie Prom) and The Rescu Rally- a fund raiser for Rennie Health Care. Also, my good friend Gidge Celebrated her birthday this month, so a whole gang of us spent the night at a hotel in Scottsdale and enjoyed Seafood and drink at the Salt Cellar. As the festival ended, Jef and I once again made our mad dash across the nation for a weekend at the Bay Area Renaissance Festival.
The dinner at the Salt Cellar was delicious, we all got a bit gussied up and ate 'til we were stuffed! The hotel provided a shuttle, so drinks flowed like they oughta. The next day, we spent being lazy in the room and enjoying the pool. It was a wonderful break from life on site, and an even better change from the on-site bath house.
Funky formal I'm sure is one event that's gotten plenty of coverage from the Gold Team, and Ronn sure did look great in his Rabbit threds (Thankfully, I had people to verify after the fact that he was in fact a bunny that night. I wasn't entirely sure I had not just imagined it). The most I can say about funky is that while I had intended to take several pictures, that some how slipped my mind amongst all the, um, frivolity. I will say this: I watched the sun come up the following morning, still awake, sitting atop the joust field bleachers, listening to my ipod, drinking coffee. We breakfasted at the Red Sage and I think I finally passed out for an afternoon nap around 3.
Of course we can't forget the major holiday embraced by AZRF, and that is of course saint Patrick's Day. We had a parade, at one point I counted about 35 Rennies marching and waving and shouting to...no one. There was plenty of beer and whisky and drinking games and mashed potato flakes (biodegradable confeti!) and it was a blast. It of course led to another afternoon nap, and some creative reconstructions of the days events when my pal Don couldn't recall them, and I am more than certain that if I'm not in AZ for St. Pats next year, I'll regret it.
Most of my days were again spent playing Mega Man 3, doing some work as new shipments came in at the shop, and generall lazing about trying to stay out of the sun.
The fair, of course, came to a close and Jef and I made that cross-country drive making only the most necessary of stops...like the fireworks store. We had a few days off to blessedly recover from our drive, and then two incredibly fun days at the Bay Area Renaissance Festival, which ranks pretty high on my list of shows to perform at. The R show was a lot of fun, complete with some....mystery booze...and of course, any time I'm in St. Pete with Jef, I enjoy some damn fine dining, and this stay was no different.
I then headed off to work a few weekends at GARF before it was time to head west (in my new car!) for OKRF!
