Georgia is now finished and it’s time to set our sights on our summer tour. This month we perform at one more private event and I get one quick visit to Florida before heading north.
As I mentioned last month, this was a good time for private gigs. This will be our third in two weeks! The cool thing about this one is we got to fly to Minnesota for it. It was actually a Wedding on the Minnesota Renaissance Festival grounds. Too bad I couldn’t stay since I have to drive right back up here in a week anyway. But then that would leave me car-less!
Anyway, when we arrived on site we were surprised to see how much of the parking has been swallowed by the quarry. (For those of you that don’t know MNRF, the site is on an active quarry that keeps inching towards the site and eating up the parking lot.) The site itself is still safe but who knows how long that is gonna last. The wedding area was beautifully decorated. And, the reception was to be held in the feast hall with food supplied by the fair. It was a pretty cool event I must say!
The ceremony was delightfully filled with jokes and Dr. Seuss references. After the service we gave the crowd some down time for congratulations and to get a few drinks in them. Then it was time for a show. We did Robin Hood. We find it’s the perfect show to go along with a wedding event. It has a wedding and proposal in the show and it has the broadest appeal demographically. (Nice $10 word, huh?) The show went off without a hitch and was thoroughly enjoyed by all. Congrats to the Bride and Groom!
While in Minnesota, even though for a very short time, we briefly got to visit with some friends and take in a quick movie at Mall of America. Also, while there we recorded the commentary track for our new DVD “Troy Storyâ€. That should hit the shelves in time for the MNRF festival!
After the wedding it was time to head back to Georgia to finish our last weekend. Thanks again to all our peeps in Minnesota and the wedding party. I’ll be back soon! And thanks to all our fans and friends in Georgia as well. It was another spectacular season!
Time now for a quick visit to Florida! It seems my time in the Sunshine State lessens with every passing year. It seems odd since I have a house there. But times, they are a changin’! While in Florida I tried to visit a bit with everyone. Dinner here, a cocktail there, you know the drill. I even got to crash a night at my Dad’s place. It’s always nice to catch up with him.
As quickly as I zipped to Florida it was now time to head north. My truck is packed and I need to make a stop in North Carolina to pick up a tent and stock for the upcoming Lotion Candle biz at the Black Rock fair in Michigan. I made the trip easily enough and even stumbled upon some $2.99 gas prices!! Thank God for small favors!
After crashing at my friend Corey’s place, I got up and headed to Lotion Candle HQ to pick up my haul. It was great to touch base with everyone there including Ben who doesn’t travel much anymore. I packed up my truck. And when I say packed, I mean PACKED. There was stock floor to ceiling and even tent parts on my roof rack. This should be a heavy load. Hope I can find more $2.99 gas!
I drove straight thru the night like I often do. Stopping only to gas up, eat and ya know… use the little boy’s room. It was an uneventful trip filled with episodes of my favorite TV shows playing on my in car entertainment center and a LOT of rain. I have to say I’m getting tired of the rain after 6 straight days!
After arriving in Minnesota I got settled. Since then I’ve been able to visit with friends, go to a Twins baseball game (Thanks MN for naming your team after us) and even do a little Disc Golf! It’s been years since I’ve done that. I can’t wait to see the condition of my arm tomorrow. LOL
Well, there ya have it! June in a nut shell! (With plenty o’ nuts!) I’ve got just a few weeks to kill ‘til Black Rock starts. That should give me some time to relax and get some twin biz taken care of as well as some of my other biz and personal stuff. Keep your eyes open MN, you might see me wandering your streets!
By the way… If you haven’t taken a moment to “LIKE†my D’Angelo Facebook page, why don’t you click on over a do it now! You’ll get access to stuff every day!
