Um.... Here I am again. Facing the blank page, and with no idea what I want to talk about. Im sitting in aDiscount Tire, getting my tires balanced. I wont be here much longer; Ive been here a while already.

Fairie Creatures on a Majikal Night
Ive used my time wisely, working on Tortuga business. Ive honed one of the scripts that were planning on bringing out, juggledT-shirtnumbers for our Spring/Fall order, and gotten bitchy with a friend about plane flights and the exact meaning of a "full week." Pretty stupid on both our parts, but I obviously need to eat something.
Friendship is a queer thing. Now, dont get hung up on the word, friends, it has other meanings as well. I just stuck it in there to jostle your comfort zones and because Im, well, you know...odd(like that, not the other way - sorry to disappoint). As you can see, I really havenothingto write about. So, here I go on another stream of conscious tangent.
Now, where was I? Ah, yes....
Friendship is an...oddthing. There, is that better? We cling to those people whom we (a) are most like, (b) would most like to be like, and (c) contain the most of the very stuff that we despise about ourselves. Now why isthat? Is it because if we can work things out in them, then its like were doing the same for ourselves only from a safer, much more detached position? (How was that for a run-on sentence?) We love, we hate, we fight, we makeup. Its a vicious cycle, and I, for one, am getting tired of the merry-go-round.
Me-Yeow Kitty!

Then there are those friendships that are different. The ones that even with the fight and makeup theres an underlying foundation of support for one another. As Im getting older (wiser?), Im finding more of those types of friendships. Not many, but some. And, you know what? Im like em!
None of this is to say that I am the perfect component in this equation. I am cantankerous at best...but only when Im not getting my way on a continual basis. Nothing wrong with that, right?
Tires are done now. And,beforeI really swim into the deep end of the self-examination pool. Lucky me. You, too. You wouldnt want me to drag you through that crap with me anyway. Its not a pretty sight. Ill think of something else to write about next time I crack my puter. Dont worry; I still got more empty page to fill before Im done with this journal entry.
Hi, kids. Airborne again. Flying the friendly skies of...well,Northwest, actually. On my way to meet up with the boyz in Omaha. Thats where we all touch down on our way to Council Bluffs, Iowa. The Renaissance Faire of the Midlandsawaits our annual one weekend Tortuga type mayhem, and we are not ones to disappoint.
Before all of that, however, I have a layover in the Twin Cities and lunch with my good friend Sarina. Sometimes a three-hour layover can be a good thing-especially when food is involved. Sarina and I have been friends for about ten years now. We may have met earlier, but we began getting to know one another back in 94 at the firstCarolina Renaissance Festival. We have a platonic friendship - no, its not because "she has a great personality"; shes actually quite lovely - that has grown as we have grown over the course of at least as many adventures as the years that we have known each other. (Dont like that last sentence, either, but is says what I wanted to say so Ill leave it.)
And, how amIdoing? Lets see.... Still 40, still sober, still single. Hows that? Good enough for you? Too bad if its not.... Obviously still cantankerous as well.

There have been some changes in my life lately, but I am at a crossroads. Not so much about the changes, more about what it is you want to read. Do you want the philosophical Tortuga? Or the "my life is a party; come along for the ride" Tortuga? Do you really want to read the deep and shallow thoughts that cross my mind? Or would you like a good story? Either way, Id like to stick to the truth. I could make something up if youd like, but I believe itll be more fun knowing that what youre reading is how itreallyhappened. With a couple of embellishments thrown in to spice up the mix.
But, maybe my lifes not interesting enough after all. Maybe Ishouldmake something up. Write a story involving the three of us. How were on our way to do yet another renaissance festival. Yeah, yeah, flying in an airplane or two, and meeting up in Council Bluffs, Iowa....
Naw, itll never work.
Just so you know, all this bitching and philosophy isnt all that Ive been doing lately. As you can see by the pictures, weve been "out and about" in between weekends of work at theGeorgia Renaissance Festival. Enjoy the pix and know that my life is oh so much more than the grumblings that I sometimes plunk down on my puter. Honestly, I shouldnt bitch...but I do. So, there!
Ciao, bellos!
