July 2012 – Another year flies by

Well, another year flies by.  I turned 36 this year.  At least I think I did.  You reach that point in your life where you stop focusing on your age so much and you have to stop and do the math, lol.

All in all it was a boring month.  Although from a Tortuga perspective the biggest news is that we've been training a new Tortuga!  Jamey came up from Florida earlier this month, and Jon and I ran him through the paces.  He worked hard and was pretty solid on the script.  So all we had to do was instill him with the proper Tortuga-ness.  Which basically means removing all shame and adding bravado.  Let me tell you boys and girls something.... this guy is a looker.  He'll be breaking hearts very soon.  I hate him.

While he was in town I finally found a video game that I enjoy and have taken the time to play.  Dungeon Defenders on the XBox.  He, Brennan and I spent many an hour trying to defend our poor helpless little crystal.  Damn Wyrvens and Ogres.

I also organized a team from my gym for the first annual Pink Lady Pull.  One of the fire engines in Charlotte has been completely painted pink in order to support cancer awareness. A fund raiser was organized in which teams of up to eight had to pull the pink lady one hundred feet.  Took us an average of about 13 seconds each time.  And damn was it a lot harder than I expected!  Quads were seriously burning after each pull.

I also spoiled myself and grabbed some friends and went to the National White Water Center.  It's a completely man-made river here in Charlotte.  It's where our olympic teams train.  The entire river is serviced by six huge pumps that keep the river flowing.  They can also change the river by adding pylons which change the shape of the rapids.  It's pretty damn cool.  This time we opted for the "Rodeo" experience.  Basically smaller raft, fewer people and you try to get into the rapids and see if you can hold the raft there, the entire time is bucking like a bull who just had his balls stung.  It was a lot of fun!

Speaking of bulls.... finally went to Coyote Joe's here in Charlotte.  It's a local country bar.  And they have a mechanical bull.  And of course after a few drinks a few of the girls decided to give it a try.  Gen and Alissa looked damn fine, and I'm sure you'll all agree!

Well, I need to let you go now, and get back to packing for Michigan.  Can't wait to see you all there!!!!
