Time for Mia’s Birthday and our drive to AZ to start the season.
This month we close out the Decorating Elves season and prepare for our trip across the country to start our 2015 festival season. But first we have to make a trip to frigid Minnesota to visit family and celebrate Mia’s 2nd Birthday.
Even though Minnesota is super cold in January it has kind of become the traditional place for Mia’s Birthday parties. We have the largest concentration of friends and family there. Jes threw together an amazing “Frozen†themed party in record time. It was so cool! Tons of people and other kids showed up. Thanks to all of you for all the wonderful gifts and your attendance.
Also while in Minnesota I did my “One Dayâ€. It’s when you get all three degrees to become a Master Mason in a single day. So yes… I am now a Master Mason! If you are curious about it, Google it! LOL
After our Minnesota trip it was time to head to AZ to start the season, but first we had to take the RV to the shop for some warranty work. You always have to shake out the bugs when ya get a new rig and put it through its paces. And, we stay with a friend while in AZ so it was the perfect time to put the rig in the shop and pick it back up on the way to GA.
On our way we made our usual two stops to visit the usual suspects. First, New Orleans to visit our friends the Haeusers and our friends Mike and Erin. And Second, the Meyers family just Outside Houston.
I don’t do the Louisiana Ren Faire anymore due to the Decorating Elves business so this is the only time we get to visit with all these friends. The Haeusers have a special place in our heart. Not just because they are wonderful people but because Jamie helped to bring Mia into the world. When Mia came early we were stranded in Louisiana, nowhere near our doctors. She happened to be the Senior VP of the Women’s Hospital in Baton Rouge. They rolled out the red carpet for us and made Mia’s birth a wonderful experience. We are forever in their debt.
After leaving Louisiana we made our next stop in Cypress, TX to visit my good friend Mark Meyers. We worked in several nightclubs in the Tampa bay area in the 80’s and 90’s it was quite our hayday. (It was the 80’s after all) It’s always nice to catch up with Mark and his family. I still consider him my best friend even though we are separated by thousands of miles most of the year.
After our quick visit with the Meyers it was back on the road to AZ. Our plan was to get into town the night before Superbowl. We got in town just after lunchtime. So after we unpacked I called a couple friends for a guy’s night out. I figured downtown Phoenix would be quite a party the night before hosting the big game. I was right! It was a madhouse!
The next day we visited with some friends on the festival site for a Superbowl party. It was good to see our traveling family again. Only 5 short days till the 2015 season begins! See ya soon!
