Dear Journal, our run at Ohio is over and not a moment too soon. Don't get me wrong. The Great Lakes show was quite a nice surprise. The patrons were great and the fair was really cute, but I miss Sharon, who's working in Colorado and I can't wait to get to Minnesota. It's the biggest show we do. So the Monday after the last day of GLMF I hopped on a plane to Colorado, packed up our trailer and headed to Minneapolis with Sharon as co-pilot and our two dogs, Silk and Jasmine, in tow. Normally, our dogs are perfect little angels on the road. They sit quietly in back until we let them out to pee and poo and then jump right back in. But, apparently they must have picked up something or were excited more than normal since I'd been out of town for a while. Why? I'll tell you why! Because they both had the runs! Oh Joy! Needless to say that made our trip a little less enjoyable. Especially when I came down with the same problem! But we won't get into that one. So, I decided to plan our trip through Omaha so we could stop at Harrah's casino for the night. The boys and me hung out there a lot while doing the Council Bluffs show.
*FYI* I love to gamble! Not obsessively, but always look for a local casino wherever we are performing. I'm a fairly well rounded gambler. I love slots and most of the table games. My favorite game is probably craps. It has the best odds and most ways for the player to win. My love for the game has kind of infected Riki as well. I also enjoy roulette. As a matter of fact, while we were doing the Council Bluffs show and went to Harrah's, I realized it was Friday the 13th and a full moon. I told the boys it was fate. We had to bet on 13-black. They seemed into it but when we got to the casino, they kinda dragged their feet, so I went it alone. I got $20 in chips and put $3 on 13-black, $5 on black and $5 on odd. Now, the black and the odd side bets were just safeties just in case. It gave me a chance to win if the 13 didn't come up. So here we go. The little ball is rolling, rolling, rolling, bouncing, bouncing, and guess what? 13 BLACK!!! You should have seen the boy's faces. Riki just stood there shaking his head 'cuz I kina have a knack for this kind of luck. The cool thing was that I hit all three bets. I bet a total of $13 (yeah that was lucky too) and won $128 over my initial bet. Needless to say I left the table after my single bet and had a drink! This has become my favorite gambling story!
So, back to our trip. We spent the night in our trailer after some fun gambling. Sharon had a great run of luck at nickel slots and I had almost no luck at all. But that's ok, we're team gamblers after all. One of us is always winning. We got up the next morning and enjoyed the buffet, let the dogs (that were feeling much better) out and headed on our way to Minnesota. It was only a half day drive and very uneventful. Once we got in town we met the boys for food and drinks and got settled into our new RV Park. It's very quaint, and the proprietors are very nice, but it's a little off the beaten path. After a little exploring I found lots of back ways to the places we frequent, so all is well. The next hurdle? Week 1 of the Minnesota Renaissance Festival and then Sharon's best girlfriends Anne and Amy come to visit on Monday. God help us! See ya next time!
