Welcome to my journal! Here you will find little pieces of my day-to-day life. (At least the stuff I think is worth mentioning) It only seems fitting that my first entry is about a night that ended up at a strip club. Ron, Riki, and I are all fans of the comedian Carlos Mencia. When we found out that he was playing The Improv in Cleveland, only an hour away from where we were staying while doing the Great Lakes show, we ordered our tickets right away. We thought we'd make a night of it, so, we decided to go early and have dinner before the show. Unfortunately, when we arrived we found out that he had cancelled. BUMMER! Anyway, The Improv was really nice and felt very bad about the cancellation so they gave us free tickets. But, if Carlos wasn't there, what was the point. So, time to regroup. We were at the flats in Cleveland at the Powerhouse. It's an entertainment complex that used to be a power plant. Also down on the flats, is Shooters, the bar that is used at the end of the opening of the Drew Carey show. And, of course, Christie's Cabaret, a quaint little chain strip club. Ok, first dinner. At the powerhouse there is a Rock Bottom Brewery, so we decided to eat there.
*FYI* I love microbreweries! Every chance I get, I go to them in every state and country we visit. I've even brewed my own. My favorite is a nice amber lager or medium full-bodied beer, something with a nice hoppy undertone but not too bitter. Beers that are too dark or stouts tend to fill me up too quickly. (And there's your first tidbit about Jef!)
Anyway, dinner was great! We all had fish. (Grouper, Mahi-mahi, and Salmon.) But what to do now? Hmmmmmm, I know, lets go to Christie's! (DUH!) So, off we went. After paying the cover, we settled down to a nice stage side table with a nice view of the 'talent'. I have to admit, there was quite a few lovely ladies. After the first wave of usual hit and run 'Do you want a table dance?' questions, we were able to do a couple of shots and loosen up a bit. (As if we're not loose enough already) It didn't take us long to make a couple of 'friends'. That's one good thing about our job. We're never at a lack for words. It's just too bad we got there on our last week in town. Dancers have proven to be great fans and customers. I guess they understand working on stage to make a buck and always have disposable income. Of course, having all the right curves and parts doesn't hurt either. It was fun watching our condition deteriorate as we drank and watching the girls try to work us. That's one of my favorite things to do, just watching people. Anyway, we had a great time, and spent plenty of money. But don't worry, we all made it home in one piece!
