With Arizona winding down, it’s time to set our sights on Tampa. We’ve got one weekend booked there. So, it’s off to Tampa to see the wife then off to Atlanta we go.
The last event before leaving Arizona was our Fan Club Meet and Greet. I always look forward to Arizona’s. It’s one of our best attended events. We always have over 100 people in attendance. The fans in Arizona rock! Thanks to all that showed up. We love you all! By the way, my pictures from that night have come up missing but I’m sure Ronn and Riki will have some in their journals.
The drive across the country was easy enough. We (Jon and I) left Sunday night about 10pm. Between the two of us, we made great time. As a matter of fact, we got in Tuesday evening. That’s less than two days start to stop.
Jon and I made such good time that we were able to make a couple quick stops along the way. We visited my old friend Mark Meyers in Houston. We stopped by Ra Sushi for a drink and a snack by his office. That’s one nice thing about our travels… being able to drop in on out of town friends. We also stopped at one of those road side Fireworks outlets. I’d hate to have a random spark hit that place, although it would make a spectacular fire.

Ronn was too busy with stuff to make the quick turnaround to Tampa Bay so Riki and I did Tampa with Jon, Lucio as you know him. It was a fun easy weekend. But I have to say, the humidity really surprised us. It doesn’t take long for one to forget how sticky it gets in Florida. Thanks to all the fans that made us feel welcome in Florida. I promise I’m working on trying to get some form of the Tortugas at the Tampa show in 2012.
After Tampa and some quality time with Sharon we headed off to Georgia. It’s a quick seven hour drive from St. Pete. Once there I got our sound and green room set up. I still wasn’t quite sure where I was staying but our friend Holly offered to let me stay at her place. After doing the tent thing last year that sounded like a grand idea!
Opening weekend was great! The Georgia crowds were awesome! Now I realize every weekend won’t be like this but it sure was a great way to start the run. The weather couldn’t have been better. Thanks mother nature, keep it up!
After the opening weekend I drove back to St. Pete. Since I was only home from Arizona for 10 days before having to leave again, it was nice to be able commute. As a matter of fact I drove back Sunday night after the fair day. I’ll probably be traveling back and forth a lot for the run since I’ll have to leave from Georgia to drive to the Chippewa Falls show.
Another thing I was able to do while in Florida was take Sharon to Theater in the Park. This year they did “Rent”. It was great. I have to say there was some real talent on that stage. The last time we did a show in the park it was Shakespeare. It was hard to follow and kind of boring. I guess I’m just a more contemporary theater guy. Funny, coming from a guy that works at Renaissance Festivals.
Sorry I don’t have that much to type this month, I’m sure I’ll have lots to chat about from Georgia and my trips home to Florida. Have a great month and I’ll see ya in Georgia!
