This month we continue Georgia and celebrate Ronn's Birthday. Just around the corner is our performance-free portion of the year and my chance to become a vendor in Colorado.
Not too much exciting is going on in Georgia this year. Money is tight and we're spending most of our time sitting on our butts in our little apartment over the booth. If it weren't for the rain it's been unseasonably cool at this fair. Usually we're sweating our asses off by now.

This time of year is also when we celebrate Ronn's birthday. This year he invited a smaller contingent of friends. (It's gotten out of hand in the past.) We all met at Ru San's (roo-sawns). It's our favorite Sushi place in Georgia and North Carolina. They have this gigantic menu with tons of specialty rolls and about a hundred different $1 rolls and yakitori sticks.
We all ordered all kinds of crazy stuff and a bunch of different $1 rolls, etc. When the food came, there was soooo much I didn't think it would fit on the table. (Especially with all our bottles of saki.) Man, we put away some food!

I have a pretty good memory, and I really pay attention when people mention something they like. It comes in handy when their birthday or a holiday comes around. So when it was time for Ronn's B-day, I just accessed the old memory bank and voila, a gift.
Ronn had mentioned a while back that he wanted one of those Harmony Remotes. It's one of those remotes that control everything. I mean everything. Every electronic device that has its own remote can be controlled by these bad boys. There are quite a few different models ranging in ability and price. They go from like $99 to $499. Yes, you read me right, $499. Obviously, I didn't have the resources for the $499 model and to be honest, it's a little overkill. It's a table model with a giant color touch screen. It's just too unwieldy.

I checked out a $129 model. It did plenty but didn't have a touch screen and wasn't as swoopy as the next model up. The next model was $249. It had a color touch screen, ergonomic design, and did everything! So, I called Riki and a couple other friends and asked if they wanted to pitch in on the remote. Everyone loved the idea. It made looking for a present much easier and more affordable at the same time. At the end of dinner we gave him his present. Boy was he happy! I think he was even surprised. He had forgotten the discussion we had months earlier about the device. I love when a plan comes together. And by the way, if Ronn's review of the unit is spectacular, I may have to pick one up myself. 🙂
There were only two other events of note this month. One last trip to Florida to drop off my car and pick up a few last things as well as turn off everything and our fan meet and greet. The trip to Florida... BORING! You've heard it a million times and if you haven't, just read some old journals. There's years of 'em.

The fan meet and greet was fun. Just like last year we did it at a bowling alley with and arcade, bumper cars, and laser tag. We had another great turnout. I didn't really take many, if any, pictures. I figure Ronn and Riki will have plenty in their journals. The only real difference between this year and last is that I sat out laser tag. The Georgia site has wreaked havoc with my knees. So, running around a dark room seems foolhardy at best. I just sat at the bar and got to know the bartender. Like I've never done that before. I did bowl fairly well though. I think my best score was 146. That's pretty good for a guy that bowls once or twice a year. Again, fun was had by all.
Next month, the end of Georgia and the trip to Colorado to find a place to stay. Wish us luck!
