So. Back where we began, are we? I'm writing this in the sun of another gorgeous desert day. I've come to the Arizona Renaissance Festival to work for Heather selling festival souvenirs. It's been a remarkable couple of weeks so far, and only seems to be improving.

I left Tampa to stay in NC for a few days before flying out to Arizona. It took TWO TRIES. I went to the kiosk, and could not check in. after a few clicks and furrowed brows from both myself and the attendant, it was revealed: My flight was scheduled for the next day. I'd arrived a bit too early. THAT was one embarrassing phone call to Jef to have him pick me back up! But the next day I returned to the airport and had a nice flight home. I spent those few days getting ready to leave and enjoying, as always, the company of my family. The boys and I went out drinking and were joined by my old roommate Beth who was down from NYC to visit. A good time was had by all! Another highlight was the re-watching of 'The New Adventures of Pipi Longstockings' with my neice. What a fun little movie- and I'm sure I speak for a lot of boys in my generation when I say that film is a big key in what I look for in a lass.
Most importantly though was the arrival of Edwina! Long-time Tortugaholics will recognize the namesake for my new Ukulele. It's incredibly exciting to have this fun little instrument! I love it. I can't wait to start playing with my musician friends ALL THE TIME!
My flight west was easy, and Heather picked me up from the airport and took me back to site. I settled nicely into the absolutel coolest address at the fair: That's right, kids, I live at the top of the Dragon Slide! The slide, for non-AZ'ers, is a free standing, three story building on site here with a big fun slide wapped around it. At the top, there's a room that currently houses one all-purpose PT. I literally slide down to go to work, all the time!
One of my favorite things about selling souvenirs is that during the week there is plenty of work to do, keeping me busy. The rest of my time I manage to fill with various shenanigans- cook-outs, dance parties, or playing Mega Man 3. The work days have been largely chilly- the weather is against us- but fun, all the same. After the end of weekend one, all Tortugas present in AZ had dinner, and it was for me a much needed steak and corn cob, as well as the biggest margarita they'd give me (I specifically asked for one 'as big as my head' they did not quite deliver). There was also of course the amazing trip to Heart Attack Grill...I've been eating very well since arriving in the desert!
The Esparzas were also gracious enough to host all of the AZ twins at their house for a wonderful cookout. It was a great evening, which I'm sure was helped along by the fact that I didn't have to drive 🙂
All in all, February went by pretty damn fast, and I found myself on the back half of the Arizona show, as the desert warmed up (finally!) and my thoughts turned to a weekend in Tampa and a full run at OKRF!
