Started out by heading up-town Charlotte. Ex-Carolina Flower Girl Kaila work karaoke Tuesday nights at a bar uptown and was working on her birthday so she asked friends to swing by. I'd never gotten a chance to watch her work it, so I met up with some of her friends and we enjoyed a few drinks and the singing. I tell ya, there were a few people there with some amazing voices. And some without! And before you ask, no, I didn't sing. My voice was still feeling tore up from performing at Carolina, so I was still resting it.
Of course there was lots of CrossFit goodness. Including a personal goal finally accomplished. I've been working to get 15 overhead squats with my body weight on the bar (165lbs currently) for over a year now. Finally got it this month!! Be sure to check out the video. 😀
For anyone following my tweets, you need plenty of time was spent at the Common Market. It's a local “hipster bar” slash convenience store. But basically they have a great selection of craft beers available that is always changing. And it's close to my house! If you're ever in Charlotte, be sure to check it out. Brennan and I are there pretty much every Wednesday night which is when they have free beer tastings. Small samples of four or five different beers. I'm still not that much of an expert, but I will say my palate has developed quite a bit.
Also on the alcohol front, I bottled my ginger peach mead that I started on my birthday. All in all it took 25 750ml bottles. The ginger taste is still a bit overpowering. I'm told that ginger will mellow with age, so I figure these need to bottle age for at least another six months.
Riki was actually in Charlotte for his birthday! Which was a very nice surprise. Sharyn organized a little dinner outing at a Japanese restaurant so we all met up there for a good night of laughs and food. The onion ring volcano was still my favorite.
And of course... snow.... I moved to the south to get away from it. Why did it feel the need to follow me? Grrrrr!
Well, that's the run-down. Looking forward to 2011 and what adventures it holds. Hopefully our paths will cross soon!
Take care, and be safe!
