Where were we? Oh yeah- I was prepping to go to Raleigh to once again don the hat of the Great Mad DoKtor : Hunter S Thompson. I loaded up the truck- Beverly hillbilly style- and made my way up I-85/40 to Raleigh. What a town! First off, my host was friggin awesome! Thanks to Eric Smith for a rock n roll adventure through the state capital of North Carolina! And now I have to give thanks to Pitch Media Gallery for hosting the show. But wow, Raleigh- art galleries GALORE! For those of you who don’t know, First Friday there has every place in town opening the doors and serving wine to passers by (of age of course). TONS OF ART. I slipped- in Gonzo costume- through the masses. My comrades handing out fliers furiously to those who might recognize the person I was trying to emulate. In downtown they were setting u for a concert and we were stopped by supporters of the health care bill giving out info and letters to send to congress and the white house in support of the current effort. After that we witnessed a gang fight by skin heads…. Awesome this stupidity of man is. After some fine food we retired for the night.

The next day I was disabled by an allergy- I’m talking so stuffy I was unable to move. Up to 4pm, where we started a run through, I was unable to realistically function. I pressed on- working through my clogged lungs. I gotta say- and I rarely give myself a pat on the back- my third act that time was fucking awesome. Course I only had an audience of two. As soon as we were done I had an hour to waste till I had to do it all over. I wondered down to a coffee shop where the day before it was taken over by bike riding hippies…. Only now it was deserted. The streets- which had the night before been filled with some of most artsy fartsy folks I’ve meet in my life- were filled with uptight elite fucks whose minds extended only to what they were wearing that night. What a waste.
We had an audience of about 14 people that night. Some had left during the intermission only to be replaced by some more hippie folk who were looking for a free show. Yes this show was free cause I love theatre- it’s what I do. I gotta say- again I don’t do this much, my act ½…best they have ever been. I’m finding new levels not only to this character, but to acting every time I put on this mantle of Hunter. We made gas/ beer money that night. I consider that a success but we really need more marketing. My thoughts moved forward to the future of Boston… and Twin-stock. Twin stock was fun- thanks to all who showed up. Still gotta get myself out there more for you folks- but I’m warming up to it!
Then from there was: wake up- get the girl off to work- check email- try to figure out the new cellphone- walk the dogs- listen to gold team- watch the dvd’s- drink a beer- clean the house- do the dishes- review my lines- work on scripts- try a new note on the bugle- brush my teeth- eat pizza- look at facebook- walk the dogs- drink a 40- read the snail mail- go through the room of stuff- read red mars- polish off another 40- poop…. Birthday parties galore. I even worked the Jonas Bros. Concert….
This is how I live my days, well until I started prepping for Boston. Man- you never know how much crap you have till you are forced to go through it. Rebecaa had her birthday during this, so we went tubing down the green river near Asheville. I left my dogs in the care of Rebecca’s parents and it was back to Charlotte. My windshield was cracked by rock on the way home. Well, that’s it for this month…
I have to give a special thanks to my Mom and Dad for their support during this time! You guys rock in so many ways on so many different levels. I can’t thank you both enough for your support over the years…
And a final not to Rebecca- Happy birthday baby… I’m gonna miss you in Boston. And the dogs too- remember to feed the fish!
Things are turning a deeper shade of blue-
