Ahhh... so where were we? Yes- on the cusp of Boston Bound. That's right Team Blue heads north for antics and debauchery in good ole Carver,MA. I left out of Charlotte and was soundly beaten by brother Lucio in the journey up. Crashing in Broughton for a couple nights, we decided to have a look at the faire. Upon arrival we were greeted by some friendly faces and awesome talent. We had promos for the fair in Providence and in Boston- taking a bus full of the entertainment for the faire. Interesting ride which included a slut off between my brother Lucio and one of the singing wenches- the results are still not in. the last promo had us parading through Boston on busy pedestrian streets. We immediately got lost but with help of the Boston people- and bagpipe music, we found our way. When asked where we were staying until our house opened up that weekend - we of course said Broughton. Many folk told us to get out then- but we had an entertainment director who was kind enough to bring us into our final staying place in Onset. On the way we again found ourselves lost- but we did find Plymouth rock, Cape Cod, the Bourne Bridge (several times) and Buzzard's Bay. Eventually we did end up in- Onset. Where the pizza is good and you have to chrip as you walk at night due to a local infestation of skunks. We're staying in a house that's about 100 years old with another group called the Aerial Angles. It's right on a little cove and has a tiny beach in front of it. There were Kyaks down stairs- a DVD and VCR- games in the dining room. Lucio brought a PS2. Friggin awesome. Rebecca came up for the second weekend and stayed the week. We zipped up to Salem- over to Marth's Vineyard- went to Pomodores (a local bar here).
King Richard's Faire is a nice village. There's a musical called Bite me... a Carvershire vampire love story. There's Ligers... that's right, Ligers. White Tiger cubs- there's a cat show if you get my meaning. There's a knife throwing show- a french whipper... puppets of unusual taste- mud shows, singing ladies... It's a Ren Faire if you get my drift. It's a good show. The people here alone make it worth it; everything else is just icing on the cake. We hit our first day on stage and in true Tortuga fashion, we got our first complaint, and were soon bumped to PG and PG- 13. The crowds were a little slow to get us at first... I like to think that were thinking..."Who are these yellow shirted fairies?" Well everyone except one of the first guys through the gate- in a tortugaholic shirt. But this squirrelly bunch warmed up fast and are having a great time with us on stage. The size of the crowds are growing as long as the weather holds. I went out to Provincetown, New Bedford and caught Lizzie Borden's place in Falls River during the down time. Other than that, I've had a little time to catch up on my reading: Red Mars, Green Mars, Atlas Shrugged, an Al Franken POS, some Basho, The Salmon of Doubt... we go out and have good times, play games... eat good food. There was one adventure in Plymouth that bears merit. An open mic night ( we also did karaoke... I sang Ghostbusters.). I went cause the pianist for the musical- Grace- was playing with her band. I wanted to see her play and I wanted to perform some Hunter. Now this isn't the kinda open mic I'm used to... this plymouth crowd hated the performance. I was actually asked to leave due to the fact that my monologue was too violent for a hip hop crowd. Too violent you say? Haven't you done this for artist and theatre people all over NC? Well that's right... and what did they consider too violent? Talking about the 1968 DNC riots in Chicago and how brutal it had gotten but didn't that it didn't receive coverage. Seems that that hip ass hip hop crowd can't handle a little lesson on government sponsored censorship. But hey... what do I know?
Time is flying by and we have month to go till I get to go home and see my Gals... that right fellas, I'm taken. I'd love to have pics this month but the machine I'm on (thanks Diego!) is damn near impossible to work on. So I'll pile on some next month for you....
Til then...
I have come to chew bubblegum and kick ass...
